JOB PURPOSE

The Project Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the project activities and assigned duties are carried out effectively to accomplish the project‘s goals and objectives regarding wildlife, climate change, and other sustainability topics. In addition, he or she will oversee the execution of the project‘s work plan and participate in project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and project development at project sites. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key duties and responsibilities

Deliverables/Outcomes

Project coordination (70%)

  • Responsible for planning, daily management, implementation, and evaluation of assigned project deliverables; 
  • Responsible for mobilizing, activating, and strengthening community groups to design, conduct, and sustain project initiatives, including but not limited to workshops/trainings/trips or events
  • Coordinate the overall implementation of the initiative as per the annual work plan; ensure an inclusive, participatory, and transparent implementation process;
  • Work with vendors to achieve the most favorable services & terms;
  • Evaluate the project’s success and prepare reports.

Project Financial, Administrative (20%)

  • Monitoring project expenditure based on a clear project plan and applying all required Financial regulations;
  • Support to build and develop regulations for the project department; 
  • Undertake other project administration tasks as and when necessary;

Partnership building and others (10%)

  • Support in liaising with external stakeholders (including clients, sponsors, partners…) to ensure outcomes are met in a timely manner;
  • Perform any other related task as per the request of the Project Development Director.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Work experience

  • A minimum of 1.5 years of professional experience in project or event management, planning, monitoring, or advisory support at the national level or/international level; 
  • Supervisory experience of at least 3 major successful projects/ events;
  • Experience working on wildlife conservation, science/ environmental studies, climate/ disaster risk management, and natural resource management-related subjects/ projects would be desirable;
  • Preferably, experience in working in multi-stakeholder and comprehensive development projects with national and international agencies.

Skills

  • Strong teamwork & leadership skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision;
  • Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to plan and coordinate competing activities and resources; 
  • Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal & multi-tasking skills
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written); 
  • Knowledge of database management and good command over MS Office;
  • Fluency in English at a professional level is essential;

  • Be willing to seek guidance and advice when required;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor‘s degree/ Advanced Diploma in Development Studies, Economics, International Development, and Programme / Project / Event Management, Business Administration, or other relevant field is required;
  • A bachelor‘s degree or advanced diploma in science/ environmental studies, climate/ disaster risk management, natural resource management, and any related fields or knowledge of wildlife conservation is highly desired.
