JOB PURPOSE/ MANDATE

The Project Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the project‘s activities and assigned duties are carried out effectively to accomplish the project‘s goals and objectives regarding to wildlife subject. In addition, he or she will oversee the execution of the project‘s work plan and participate in project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and program development at the project site.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key duties and responsibilities

●          Project activities: Work closely with the Wildlife team as well as other departments to carry out awareness activities, specifically in HCMC. Activities include surveys, projects with traditional medicine fields, TV/radio shows, digital ads, billboards production, tourism sector outreach, stakeholder meetings, etc…;

●          Research and Technical supports: Support with wildlife research, timely mobilization of project team, service providers, consultants, and equipment inputs for the initiative’s activities; Provide technical supervision and assure the quality of the work of service providers to ensure planned deliverables are met in good quality and in a timely manner;

●          Partnership  with local authorities and external stakeholders: Liaise and build cooperative relationships with local authorities and other external stakeholders to conduct project activities to combat wildlife issues;

●          Administrative tasks: Support Line Manager and Finances in payments procedure (verification, follow up); Participate in the controlling of the appropriateness and compliance of the project operations, work plan, and budgets to ensure transparency, ethical conduct and efficiency in project implementation;

●          Reports: Reporting on project activities and expenditure as requested by the Line Manager and according to project timeframes. Manage all event operations and report to the Lines Manager any of the changes which impact the project implementation.

●          Perform any other related tasks as per the request of the Line Manager.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Work experience

●          A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in project or event management, planning and monitoring or advisory support at national level or/and international level;

●          Supervisory experience of at least 3 major successful projects/ events;

●          Experience of working on wildlife conservation, science/ environment, natural resource management related subjects/ projects, working with local communities, local partners in wildlife/ environmental issues;

●          Preferably, experience in working in multi-stakeholder and comprehensive development programs with national and international agencies;

Skills

●          Strong team-working and leadership skills;

●          Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision;

●          Interpersonal and intercultural sensitivity;

●          Strong attention to details and multi-tasking skills

●          Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to plan and coordinate competing activities and resources to achieve agreed outcomes;

●          Knowledge of database management and good command over MS Office;

●          Good communication skills (both oral and written);

●          Fluency in English at a professional level is essential;

Qualifications

●          Bachelor degree/ Advanced Diploma in science/ environmental studies, climate/ disaster risk management, natural resource management and any related fields or have knowledge of wildlife conservation is highly desired;

●          Bachelor degree/ Advanced Diploma in Development studies, Economics, International Development, and Program / Project Management, Business Administration, Financial Management, Communication Arts or other relevant field is required;
